We understand our enviromental responsibility. Wooden toys mean less plastic. Less plastic is good for our oceans.
We create exciting worlds of imaginative wooden toys that are made to last with a lifetime of love. We strive to continuously develop and grow our charmingly quirky products, that are engaging, tirelessly entertaining, and perfect for little hands. While we love to be educational through play, we encourage every child to be authentic so they can grow with confidence and have fun at the same time.
Our products are all dreamt up by our designer Danielle Hanson, and then brought to life by our good friends at the factory, who are like family to us. Each part of the Tender Leaf cog is as important as the next, and we love working together to achieve our legacy.
We know they are fun to play with, but we have to be sure they are completely safe and durable. All our toys meet the safety standards EN71, ASTM, and AS/NZ ISO — rigorously tested to give you complete peace of mind.
Creating toys with longevity is what we do best. We work hard to maintain a strong brand identity and together we strive to be the best we can be. Every year, we spend around two months working alongside our wonderful suppliers Mentari International in Indonesia, makers of all Tender Leaf Toys.
Their family-run factory operates with high standards of training, wellbeing, and respect - and provides dependable employment for hundreds of local villagers. During our visits we work together, eat together, and make gorgeous toys together. Discover more about our sister brand Mentari Toys, which shares the same ethical values and sustainable materials.
We are deeply committed to protecting Indonesia’s natural resources and only work with reclaimed rubberwood, a by-product of the latex industry. For every reclaimed tree we use, Mentari plants a new one, driving ahead the cycle of regeneration. Mentari and Tender Leaf Toys have been awarded the ICTI Ethical Toy Program seal of approval for their ethical and sustainable supply chain.
We support Eden Projects here in the UK, now recognised as one of the most effective reforestation projects on the planet. For every order you place with us, we plant 10 trees. Read more about our commitment to the planet on our Earth Friendly page.
From raw wood to the finished product, every single stage of production happens in the same family-run factory. Once each toy has been hand-painted, assembled, and checked, it is wrapped in paper and packaged in recycled cardboard.
We care deeply about being as sustainable to our planet as we can be, and we have eliminated single-use plastic from our packaging.
Got questions about Tender Leaf Toys? Whether you're wondering about our sustainable materials, safety standards, or which wooden toys are right for your child's age, we've answered the most common questions below.
Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. Our toys are made from reclaimed rubberwood, and for every tree used, a new one is planted. Our packaging is plastic-free and fully recyclable. In addition, for every order placed through ThreadBear Design, we plant 10 trees through our partnership with Eden Reforestation Projects — one of the most effective reforestation programmes on the planet. Yes. ThreadBear Design is the official and exclusive UK distributor for Tender Leaf Toys. If you’ve found your way here from tenderleaftoys.co.uk, you’re in the right place.
We offer the complete Tender Leaf collection alongside our own ThreadBear collection and the modern, eco-friendly Mentari range. We offer free standard delivery on all orders over £40.
The Tender Leaf range covers children from 12 months through to 8 years and beyond. We offer dedicated collections organised by age: toys for 1 year olds, toys for 2 year olds, toys for 3 year olds, and toys for 5 year olds.
Many of our open-ended toys — like dolls houses, play kitchens, and building blocks grow with your child and remain engaging for years.
Tender Leaf Toys are designed in England by our creative director Danielle Hanson and manufactured by Mentari International, a family-run factory in Indonesia. The ThreadBear team visits the factory for around two months each year to work alongside the production team.
The factory provides dependable employment for hundreds of local villagers and operates with high standards of training, wellbeing, and respect. Both Mentari and Tender Leaf Toys hold the ICTI Ethical Toy Program seal of approval.
Yes. All Tender Leaf Toys are rigorously tested to meet EN71 (European), ASTM (American), and AS/NZ ISO (Australian/New Zealand) safety standards. The paints and finishes used are completely non-toxic and water-based.
Each toy is designed with smooth, rounded edges appropriate for small hands. We offer toys suitable from 12 months upwards, with age recommendations clearly marked on every product.
Tender Leaf Toys are handcrafted from SVLK-certified reclaimed rubberwood — a sustainable by-product of the latex industry. Once a rubber tree reaches the end of its latex-producing life (approximately 25 years), the wood is reclaimed and given a second life as a beautifully crafted toy. Every piece is finished with non-toxic, water-based paints and stains, making them completely safe for children.
Our packaging is plastic-free: each toy is wrapped in paper and packed in recycled cardboard. Learn more about our materials on our Earth Friendly page.
