Did you know that babies as young as 5 months can see the full spectrum of colours? When we developed our best selling Peacock Colours toy we wanted to embrace this early fascination with colour and make the toy as playful as possible too. Our Peacock has 5 coloured feathers to help your child begin to understand colours. Children will have fun seeing what happens when they layer the feathers to mix the colours, as each of the feathers has a different coloured acrylic window, allowing children to view things around them in the different hues of the rainbow plus they can enjoy colour mixing too by opening more than one feather at the same time.

The idea behind this toy can be replicated at home with this simple stain glass craft! All you need are pieces of coloured tissue paper or brightly coloured cello, clear sticky back plastic and plain card.

First we drew a shape onto a piece of card (for example see our letter A or a heart below) then carefully cut away the shape so you are left with a “window”. Then lay your sticky back plastic over the window and start layering your coloured squares over each other to fill the space.

Your child will love to see how different colours mix when layered plus this craft looks even better once stuck onto a window with daylight streaming through it!
