Feeling Autumny? Fancy a healthy snack?
We made some really cute and very effective Leafy Crisps today here in the ThreadBear kitchen!
They are soooo easy to make and they look great topped on a hearty soup, or dipped into some guacamole, or dusted with sea salt they are just like crisps only much healthier as they are made without any oil whatsoever...
I used a mandolin to cut potatoes really thinly....I experimented with sweet potatoes, and I reckon all sorts of beets would also work really well.
Once you have the slices I used a leaf biscuit cutter to cut out the shapes, popped them on a baking tray and into a hot oven ( 180C) for about 10 minutes...You need to keep checking as they will turn brown very quickly.
You can sprinkle some paprika for added autumn splodges and the beauty is that they curl as they start to crisp up, just like real leaves..
Serve on top of some thick soup and add a couple of twiglets....Completely delicious!
